The Energy Management Minor (EMM)

Admission to the minor is based on a student’s overall academic record. All students must have completed at least one semester at The University of Texas at Austin before applying to the minor program and have a UT grade point average of at least 2.0.

First-year students who wish to participate in the program their first semester must wait until the spring to apply. EMM is open to all majors and applications are accepted on a rolling basis for admission to the program.

Application and Course Registration

The EMM considers applications on a rolling basis. However, the formal application period is mid-September - April 1st of each year. If your application is accepted and you are admitted to the EMM, you will be given access to register for the core courses during the summer registration period outlined by the University registration schedule.

All courses must be completed at UT Austin. Additionally, all courses must be taken for a letter grade and passed with a C- or better to qualify for certification.

Energy Finance, Law, and Science Track (EFLS)

Finance majors may specialize in the Energy, Finance, Law, and Science track and do not need to apply for the program. However, some courses have limited availability, and so the sooner you start taking the specialized courses, the better.

You do not need to apply for the program, but you may express interest by filling out the form below. This will help us to connect you with energy leaders and activities within the McCombs School of Business.

Students who take the EFLS track must fulfill the general requirements for a finance major in addition to a series of specialized energy courses. Finance majors can register for the courses as part of their normal registration process. Energy classes are not offered as frequently as business classes, so it’s best to start taking specialized classes as soon as possible.
