Welcome to the Financial Education & Research Center (FERC) website. The lab, classroom, and financial tools empower McCombs finance students.

    The Center assists students, faculty, executives, and the community to better understand the growing flow of financial data and to manage its impact on financial markets. Center users help develop new applications of financial information technology. It is the home of the Charles Schwab Foundation Financial Planning Lab.

  • Lab Facilities

    The lab is located in GSB 3.120 2023-24 HOURS Monday-Thursday: 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday 12 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Related Centers and Initiatives

TEACHING AND RESEARCH

The Center supports classroom instruction, video conferences, special presentations/events, data-feed workshops, and simulation trading games. Audio-visual and distance learning systems are integrated into the 3,000 square-foot complex, serving as a laboratory for innovative teaching techniques. The Center also supports teaching, research, and outreach programs.

TRADING SUPPORT

Select McCombs MBA students manage real investment funds through the Texas McCombs Investment Advisors. This groundbreaking program allows a select group of McCombs MBA students to make real investments using real money and bring in actual returns. Their trading room is located on the ground floor of Robert Rowling Hall.
