CONSULTING FOR A SUSTAINABLE WORLD
The Longhorn Impact Fellowship at Texas (LIFT) pairs student consultants with sustainable corporations, social enterprises, and non-profits to solve sustainability and impact-focused problems.
WHAT IS LIFT?
LIFT is a UT Austin program that matches students with corporations and non-profits to solve sustainability-focused challenges. Projects are often related to corporate sustainability practices, reporting questions, market research for new innovations, corporate philanthropy, impact/ESG investing, and more. They must be completed in 10-to-12 weeks by a team of 4-6 students working 5 hours a week each. Students mostly work remote, but do attend in-person LIFT cohort workshops 3-4 times a semester. LIFT is open to UT Austin juniors, seniors, and graduate students who demonstrate an interest in sustainability and have strong communication, teamwork, and critical thinking skills. Technical skills and leadership experience are a plus! Team members are selected by the clients after reading applications, and are expected to put in additional 1-2 weeks of pre-reading materials provided by the client prior to starting the project. Check the schedule carefully when filling out your application. Fall applications are open April-July, and Spring applications are open October-November.
IMPACT STATS ABOUT LIFT:
- LIFT consultants produced $482,100 in value to 14 clients in the 22-23 school year
- 100% of consultants recommend the program
- LIFT gave $6,750 in scholarships to 8 students in the 22-23 school year
- 1 in 3 LIFT graduates went into full-time consulting in 2022

Thank You to our Generous LIFT Scholarship Donors!
The LIFT Scholarship was established in 2020 to provide top students with financial need support during their time as a LIFT Consultant. Scholarship money eases the burden of a student selecting experiential learning over an hourly job or other non-paid opportunities. Each semester, the GSLI awards three to five $750-1,000 scholarships (the amount a student would earn working a $15/hour job during the time of the program) based on merit and need. LIFT scholarships are made possible by generous Clients who contribute each semester, as well as through individual donors like you! You can contribute to LIFT scholarships on this link. Please write “for the LIFT Scholarship Fund” in the notes when checking out. Join us in recognizing our generous LIFT Client Scholarship Donors!
