Christopher Meakin is a member of the Business, Government and Society faculty at the McCombs School of Business, University of Texas at Austin. He received a BBA in Management and Business Analysis from Texas A&M University, a MA in Legal History from Rice University and a JD from the University of Houston. He is a member of the State Bar of Texas.
Prior to joining the University of Texas faculty, Meakin practiced law at Vinson & Elkins in Houston where he represented clients facing a variety of business issues including corporate governance, securities regulation, contracts, and dispute resolution.
Christopher Meakin has served on the faculty of the University of Houston Law Center and the Jesse H. Jones School of Management at Rice University. Since joining UT’s faculty in 2001 he has taught courses on Negotiations, Ethics, Corporate Social Responsibility, Corporate Law, Marketing Law, and the Legal Environment of Business. He is also a member of the Entrepreneurship Group where he teaches a course on legal issues involved in launching a new business. He has taught in the Management of Technology Program offered at the Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne in Lausanne, Switzerland.
He is the recipient of many teaching awards including the Faculty Honor Roll for teaching excellence in the full time MBA, Texas Evening MBA, Mexico City, Houston and Dallas\Fort Worth MBA programs and received the same honor at the undergraduate level at the McCombs School. Christopher has also served McCombs as an Assistant Director of the Business Honors Program and an Assistant Dean in the full-time MBA Program.
