Jim Nelson is an adjunct professor of strategy and innovation at the McCombs School of Business, where he teaches in the undergraduate and MBA programs. In addition to his academic career, Jim is also a senior executive, leader, and entrepreneur with a successful track record of aligning new and transformative innovation with business objectives.
With over 25 years in wholesale banking, FinTech, and healthcare experience, I have been a key player in the start-up, strategic planning, and operational management of new businesses and existing corporations, including Co-founder / CTO of UK commercial finance platform Simply Business, which exited to the Traveler’s Group in early 2017 for $500M. Jim has built, managed, and led teams both internationally and domestically and has held significant P&L responsibility. Other roles Jim has held include CEO/co-founder of the American Epilepsy Institute; CEO / Founder of investment & advisory service, Knosys; Asia Pacific CIO for Nomura International; and Asia Pacific CIO for Dresdner Kleinwort. Jim holds an MS in Technology Commercialization from the McCombs School at the University of Texas at Austin and master’s in healthcare administration from Cornell University.
