Xavier Sztejnberg is a lecturer in the Finance Department where he teaches a course on corporate valuation to McCombs MBA and MPA students.
Prior to joining the University of Texas, Mr. Sztejnberg was a senior executive in corporate development with Dell Inc. in Round Rock, TX where he led all acquisitions, divestitures and investments for the Information Technology Services and End-User-Computing (EUC) business units. This included strategy, target identification, due diligence, synergies, valuation and negotiations as well as financial restructurings. While at Dell, Mr. Sztejnberg also led the global M&A Integration Group of the acquired companies across the broad spectrum of Dell’s businesses.
Prior to Dell, Mr. Sztejnberg spent over 15 years as a Wall Street mergers and acquisitions investment banker at firms such as Lazard Frères, Morgan Stanley and The Blackstone Group, where he was a Managing Director. He advised global Fortune 500 companies on a range of issues including M&A, strategy, valuation, financing and capital allocation. All in, Mr. Sztejnberg executed over 40 transactions representing approximately $80B in total value. Mr. Sztejnberg’s deal experience has been focused on the technology and consumer sector as well as in cross-border and complex transactions. While Mr. Sztejnberg’s experience was primarily in M&A, he also worked closely on restructuring, financing and other types of financial transactions. As part of his career on Wall Street, Mr. Sztejnberg held roles as Chief Operating Officer and captain of many undergraduate and graduate recruiting teams. Mr. Sztejnberg also worked briefly as a strategy consultant with McKinsey in New York.
