Edward Doan, an engineering product manager, has been a lecturer in the Department of Information, Risk, and Operations Management at The University of Texas at Austin’s McCombs School of Business since 2008. He teaches an enterprise computing course for senior-level undergraduate business students, focusing on cloud computing and enterprise software architecture.
Doan has significant experience running global for-revenue client programs at scale. He currently leads teams designing and building Chromebook devices for enterprises, schools, and consumers worldwide. He previously held sales and engineering management roles at Google, IBM, and other technology companies for the past 20 years.
Doan has two pending U.S. patents. One is for technology that automates the addition of instant messaging contacts to a device’s contacts list via IP telephony, and the other deals with the development of a system for extending the operating temperature range of high-power devices. He has also published papers to Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers.
Doan earned a B.S. and an M.S. in electrical and computer engineering from UT Austin.
