Elizabeth Hanson Smith is a lecturer in management at the McCombs School of Business at The University of Texas at Austin. She teaches business communication courses.

Her teaching background includes the Leeds School of Business at the University of Colorado Boulder, Austin Community College, Community Colleges of Spokane (prison education), St. Edward's University, and Texas State University. She also taught communication courses as a graduate student at the University of Southern Mississippi.

She is an active member of the National Communication Association, Southern States Communication Association, and Western States Communication Association, serving as a reviewer and committee member in various divisions.

Hanson Smith holds a Ph.D. in communication from the University of Southern Mississippi and an M.A. and B.A. in communication studies from Texas State University.
