Biography
Samuel Kruger is an associate professor of finance at The University of Texas at Austin’s McCombs School of Business. He has taught courses on investment management for McCombs, capital markets for Harvard College, and entrepreneurial finance and private equity for the University of Chicago Booth School of Business.
Prior to joining McCombs, he worked as a consultant for Bain & Company, a global management consulting firm specializing in strategic marketing, digital transformation, mergers and acquisitions, corporate finance, and sustainability.
In addition to academia, Kruger has established himself as a researcher in financial intermediation, household finance, real estate, corporate finance, and asset pricing. He has written papers on mortgage securitization and foreclosure, the connection between personal and professional behavior, and the financial crisis of the 2000s. His works have been published in the Journal of Finance, Review of Financial Studies, Journal of Financial Economics, Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, and Management Science.
Kruger has been invited to present his research at numerous conferences, seminars, and talks at organizations such as the American Finance Association, the Western Finance Association, the National Bureau of Economic Research, and the American Real Estate and Urban Economics Association.
Kruger earned an A.B. degree in applied mathematics and an A.M. in statistics from Harvard University. He earned an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and returned to Harvard University to earn a Ph.D. in business economics.
