Traditional MPA Tuition and Financial Aid
There are numerous ways to offset the cost of tuition, including scholarships, loans, teaching assistantships, and residency.
MPA TUITION COST
The total cost of enrollment is determined by the student's residency status, program length, and number of credit hours taken. The traditional MPA program ranges from 31 to 43 semester credit hours, depending on the number of waivers granted for previous coursework completed. Approximate tuition and fees are based on the 2024-2025 academic year. Tuition and fees are approximate and subject to change.

FINANCE YOUR DEGREE
There are a number of ways to get help with financing your Texas McCombs MPA degree:
LOANS:
Federal loan programs provide a primary source of financial aid to domestic graduate business students. To be eligible to apply for federal financial aid, a student must be admitted to the MPA program, be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident, be enrolled full-time for each semester that aid is received, and be in good scholastic standing (3.0 or better grade point average). To be considered for federal aid, students must submit a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Questions? Contact the Office of Financial Aid.
SCHOLARSHIPS:
- MPA MERIT SCHOLARSHIPS AND TUITION WAIVERS - All admitted U.S. applicants are automatically considered for merit scholarships; a scholarship application is not required. Recipients are notified prior to their admissions response deadlines. In addition, out-of-state tuition waivers are awarded each year to high-achieving non-Texas residents.
- FIFTH YEAR ACCOUNTING SCHOLARSHIPS - Administered by the Texas State Board of Public Accountancy, the Fifth Year Accounting Scholarships are awarded based on the following criteria: Texas residency, financial need, grade point average, and a commitment to take the CPA exam in Texas.
- OTHER ACCOUNTING SCHOLARSHIPS - Many organizations offer scholarships to encourage the pursuit of an accounting education. For example, the AICPA website provides a listing of several scholarship opportunities.

Teaching Assistants
TAs help accounting professors with course instruction, grading homework, proctoring exams, holding office hours, and leading review sessions. Appointments are usually 10 hours per week and available to admitted MPA applicants and current students (assistantships do not qualify non-Texas residents for in-state tuition). Additionally, non-academic employment opportunities are available.

Financial Aid for International Students
International students are not eligible for federal loans or McCombs scholarships. Students who are not U.S. citizens should be prepared to use expenses from their own resources. Find out more below.
